11/2016 At the final conference of the Framework Programme for the Implementation of the Energy Transition in the Municipalities of the Ruhr Area of the Stiftung Mercator in Essen on 3 November 2016 the project participants reported on the results of the project Ruhr Area 2050: Modelling the Energy Transition in the Ruhr Area .
 
11/2016 On 2 November 2016 Michael Wegener gave a presentation "Urban and regional models: integration across spce, time and policy fields" at the Symposium for the Integration of Land-Use and Transport Models at the Study and Science Center of the Technical Unicversity of Munich in Raitenhaslach.
 
05/2016 Together with three other European research institutions S&W was awarded the two-year ESPON project Possible European Territorial Futures. In the project the spatial impacts of different developments in the fields of circular economy, renewable energy and land markets are to be investigated in scenarios.
 
05/2016 In the ESPON project Modelling "Less Efficient Regulation" S&W combined the scenarios of the spatial development of Europe they had developed in the ESPON project ET2050 with assumptions about the efficiency of the implenmtation of EU subsidy policies.

02/2016 The PhD thesis of Björn Schwarze "Eine Methode zum Messen von Naherreichbarkeit in Kommunen" has now been published as book and online edition.
 
01/2016 S&W was commissioned by ESPON to examine the spatial scenarios they had developed in the project ET2050 with respect to the impacts of less efficient implementation of EU subsidy policies. More details in Modelling "Less Efficient Regulation".

02/2015 Invited by the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) Michael Wegener worked in an international advisory group to support the rural communities in the West Bank to implement their land use plans under Israeli occupation as a contribution to the Peace Process.

01/2015 The digital version of the ESPON ATLAS developed by S&W is now available online. It allows interactive access to the contents of the Atlas and to view individual text and graphics elelemts.

05/2014 On 13 May 2014 Björn Schwarze presented results of a study on the accessibility of basic medical services by public transport in the county of Mecklenburgische Seenplatte at the management committee of the Regional Planning Association Mecklenburgische Seenplatte. 01/2014 Upon several requests we post a new page about the time-space maps developed by us in the 1990s with examples, references and two working papers about the methodology of developing time-space maps for download.
